Sylvanian Wedding FTW!

When I was a child, my sister and I were both avid collectors of Sylvanian families. We had the makings of a whole village! Last year, my fiance bought me one of these bad boys for Christmas:

It has real working lights and everything!
As a lover of all things Sylvanian, you can only imagine my delight when I got these presents for Christmas this year!

This has given me plenty of ideas for Sylvanian related merriment at the wedding. We already have our cake topper, but maybe set up a little scene for the newlywed bunnies? Will have to mull this idea over a little more. It would be so tempting to bring the old Sylvanian families out of retirement and set up a scene. Think I'll probably have enough on my plate to contend with on the morning of the wedding without arranging adorable animals.. On the other hand...

Lego - Just imagine!

We're big fans of Lego chez Ree, so you can only imagine our excitement when we found out there was wedding lego in the world!

Not only that, but it seems that people are bringing their creativity with Lego into their wedding days too!

Check out these Lego boutonnieres!

I love the boutonnieres, plus you could create the characters to look like the wedding party, use themed Lego, add feathers or flowers, the possibilities are endless!

Really love this as table decor
This is definitely a great yet simple way to keep guests occupied, but also bring out their inner child!

It's not just decor and boutonnieres that can get a Lego twist, why not go the whole hog and have a Lego cake? (Ooh the temptation!)
OM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!
Must keep remembering that dreaded B-word. BUDGET! Although, we DO have a large collection of Lego between the two of us..

Hi! Come on over!

Salutations and welcome to my brand, spanking-new blog!

I have another blog about putting a positive spin on things called 'Trying to see the Funny Side'

Yet this year my energy will be focused on something pretty special.

I'm getting married.

Oh yes! In October I'll be somebody's wife, Mr. Ree's wife to be specific. We're both out and proud nerds. Our apartment is full of all things lego, comics books, video games, movies and wrestling related paraphernalia.

You may have guessed that our wedding probably won't be too traditional.

Like many other young couples, money isn't exactly plentiful so we're going to have to get creative to make the money stretch. Apparently the average Irish wedding costs between €19,780 and €22,280, depending on where and when you choose to tie the knot. Our budget is a fraction of that! Throw in a healthy dose of nerdiness and nods to our Scottish and Irish heritage, this could get interesting!
